This course focus on the biopsychosocial aspects of male and female sexual dysfunctions. Participants will be instructed on: assessment, diagnosis, main factors involved (predisposing, precipitating, maintaining), different patient’s profiles and the latest treatment options. An overview of how sexual arousal, desire, and pleasure are interwoven into the brain’s neurochemistry will be given. The course also touches on the complexities of the woman’s sexuality throughout mid-life and menopause. The educational material consists of a series of video lectures by distinguished experts in the field, carefully chosen according to their specific knowledge and competence on the topic. Each lecture comprehends the evidence from the most recent scientific literature and clinical examples. Suggested readings complete the course regarding specific concepts and data worth knowing.
The overall purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to:
- Be aware of the most frequent clinical manifestations of sexual dysfunctions, understand the key aspects of the definitions, know the evidence-based risks and associated factors of sexual dysfunctions through a biopsychosocial perspective and increase their competence on the available treatment options through a multidisciplinary patient-centred management approach.
- Receive a sound knowledge base on the main sexual dysfunctions, update their understanding of the integrated approach (medical and psychological) to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders, improve their clinical skills on differential diagnosis, clinical decision-making and treatment planning through the experience of some leading experts in the field.
